Support the Massachusetts Driver’s License for Undocumented Immigrants Bill

Today, undocumented immigrants face deportation if they drive without a license and are stopped by the police. Fourteen other states and DC have provided for undocumented immigrants to get driver’s licenses. The Massachusetts driver’s license for undocumented immigrants bill is working its way through the legislative process. The next step is to schedule a vote in the Senate.

Please call your state senator. If you live in Arlington, your senator is Cindy Freidman and her office may be reached at (617) 722-1432.

  1. Explain that this bill protects people from deportation if they must drive to get to work, school, or medical appointments, and we’re all better off is everyone behind the wheel has passed a road test.
  2. Ask the senator to please speak to Senate President Karen Spilka about scheduling a vote on this important bill soon.
