Starting in Feb. 2021, Malia will facilitate a book study on Jennifer Harvey’s Dear White Christians: For Those Still Longing for Racial Reconciliation, which she read during her sabbatical. Of that book, she says:
It is one of the most valuable books I’ve ever read about racism. Speaking in a loving tone to an audience much like the people of Our Saviour, it ponders why Christians have made so little progress on racial reconciliation after all this time. It helps the reader learn about reparations as a way to clean out the festering wound that has kept us from racial healing. As our diocese explores the issue of reparations, I hope you will consider joining this parish learning opportunity.
The book study group will meet after online worship, at around 11 a.m. on Sundays Feb. 7, Mar. 7, and Mar. 14 (note date change) to discuss Parts 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Please contact Malia if you need a copy of the book.
