Last year, Malia participated in a continuing education retreat for people who wanted to get better at facilitating conversations about race. Two of the leaders were Katie Ernst and Hazel Monae (who preached at Our Saviour in Fall 2020). Even though Malia has taken many trainings about racism, she found their approach fresh and enlightening.
As part of the work of our Diocesan Racial Justice Commission, Hazel and Katie have coauthored a new Lenten curriculum, What is Truth: An Embodied Lenten Series. Malia will lead a class based on their materials this Lent. Classes will meet via Zoom on every Tuesday from 7:30-9 pm, beginning Mar. 8 and ending Apr. 12. This class will work best if participants make a commitment to attend at least 4 of the 6 sessions.
