Episcopal City Mission (ECM) has nominated the Rev. Malia Crawford for the Barbara C. Harris Award for Social Justice for her “commitment to the work of nurturing an anti-racist church.” The award was established to honor Episcopal women who effect positive change as community or church leaders, particularly those who engage with youth.
ECM will share a video on June 9, the originally scheduled date of its 2020 annual celebration, to “celebrate leaders committed to the work of economic and racial justice” and has invited Malia to participate in that video.
In response to the announcement, Malia said, “I give thanks to the people of Our Saviour for your ongoing willingness to look racism in the eye and consider how we can work for a more just world.”
