Children
Our Christian education program is designed to provide children with time and space for their own spiritual growth.
From late September through early June, Sunday School classes meet during the weekly 10 AM service. Typically, we group the children by age: Preschool (3 years old- kindergarten), Grades 1-3, and Grades 4-6. Nursery services are available for infants and toddlers (0-3 years).
Children begin the morning with their teachers in Sunday School and then join their parents at the time of the Exchange of the Peace. We hope that with periodic teaching about the meaning of what we are doing, this practice will give the children a deeper understanding of the mystery of sharing in the Body and Blood of Christ.
As always, children are welcome to any part of the service and activity packets will be available to them to give little hands something to do while often their minds are taking in more than we suspect! High school youth are invited to attend the service. Post-service discussion of the sermon will take place twice a month.
We invite all members of the parish family to be involved in our Christian education activities – as teachers’ assistants or helpers. All those of us who have spent time with the children in the past know that it is a spiritually rich (and often surprising!) experience.
