Vestry

The Vestry is the governing board of the church, overseeing fiscal management, making decisions about how time, talent and treasure can be most wisely used, and, together with the priest, helping to form the vision for the church’s future.

Allen Whitaker, Co-Warden

Since 2009, I have served the parish as a co-warden. I have been active at COS since 1996 where I have served on several committees including Stewardship, Parish Profile, Search (for the new rector), and discernment. I have also served several terms on the vestry as a member and as parish clerk. I also serve the parish as a lector during worship services and as an occasional lay preacher. I am a contributor to the parish newsletter Loaves and Fishes. I have a B.S. degree in social work and have worked in a variety of settings in different areas of need. I have also worked in the financial services industry and am currently working in the transportation industry.

Amy Carman, Co-Warden

I’m a Co-Warden and I am a hub for property and building improvements, maintenance, and repairs. I’m also a construction manager for revitalizing and modernizing affordable housing. As a vestry member with a current Sunday school student, I connect with Children’s Ministry to keep information, updates, progress, and needs flowing between our children’s activities and the vestry. I sometimes write for Loaves and Fishes, our monthly newsletter, I am a lector on Sunday, and help with coffee hour. If you have questions, suggestions, or want to get involved on property projects or Children’s Ministry, please stop me on Sundays at coffee hour.

Sara Young, Treasurer

I volunteer as the Treasurer, so I oversee the finances for COS. I pay the bills, keep an eye on our income and expenses, record the pledges, produce monthly financial reports for Vestry meetings, and propose an annual budget for the Vestry to vote on. I’m also one of the regular ushers for the Sunday morning service, and I am the coordinator for the website. If you would like to usher, or have any suggestions for the website, questions about our finances, or would like to start pledging, I’d be happy to talk to you at coffee hour.
