The Journey Home: Pilgrimage to Bethany House of Prayer

Date: October 17, 2012, 5:30 p.m.; Time: 3 hours; Journey: on foot. Meet at 22 Academy Street (Alternate group may carpool.)

Do we need to go on a journey to be a pilgrim, or are there sacred places in our own backyards? For this pilgrimage we will meet in Arlington Center at was once the first Episcopal Church in Arlington, now the Arlington Friends of the Drama. We will walk up the hills through Arlington Heights to reach the Bethany House of Prayer. Along the way we will contemplate how to find the sacred close to home, whether we can journey through the familiar and still find the unexpected, and whether the journey needs to be a dark, uphill battle in order to be meaningful. We will end our walk at Bethany House of Prayer, where we will join the sisters for evening contemplative service at 7PM. Afterward, we will journey back down the hill, perhaps stopping for coffee or tea at Panera.

Each pilgrimage will include time for group reflection as well as time for personal reflection and silence. For more information, contact Ginger Webb at Gs_webb@yahoo.com or 781-641-0084. A signup sheet is on the bulletin board.
